Home Book

As part of the prompt, this 22-page zine is designed to depict my feelings of home while using purely ChatGPT generated text. Photo illustrations interweave the AI generated prompts on the perspective of a First-Gen Chinese-Canadian migrating to New York City. Working with a personal topic, paying attention to standard typographic practices, and sticking strictly to AI-generated copy posed an interesting challenge. I cross-referenced the text with my personal journals and recollections to depict feelings of home as accurately as possible.

The blue cover contrasts the pink interior, showing the superficial and cold perspective held by outsiders looking in to a family’s home/story. The laser cut cover references the turning point in the zine (p. 6-7) in which the physical and material qualities of home are questioned. The use of Comic Sans challenges the mature tone of serif fonts that are so often used in Western/European editorial print standards.
